Ethan

Ethan Holmes is a dedicated low brass specialist with a passion for musical excellence and mentorship. He began his musical journey at age five studying piano with his aunt, and by ten had discovered his love for the trombone. His early commitment led to regular placements in the SCSBOA All-Southern Honor Bands and performances with the Claremont Youth Orchestra and Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Ethan earned his Bachelor of Music in Performance from UCLA, studying under James Miller of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. While at UCLA, he performed with Orchestra Santa Monica and collaborated with the American Contemporary Ballet, gaining experience across a wide range of musical styles and settings.

Teaching has been a central part of Ethan’s life since he was 17, when he began coaching younger students at his high school and nearby middle schools. Today, he continues to inspire students of all levels with a teaching philosophy that emphasizes consistency, musicality, and a beautiful sound—prioritizing expressive playing over technical flash.

Whether you're just starting out or preparing for auditions, Ethan brings warmth, expertise, and a deep commitment to helping each student grow as a musician.
